Happy Friday People!!

Okay so it's Friday, thank goodness. If you are going to be staying in my picks for movie night are:
I was a big fan of the Transformers cartoon growing up and I loved the movie. It is not only action packed but it is funny as well and Shia is very easy on the eyes. If you have kids they may enjoy this as well, my kids love it.
If you are a fan of Tyler Perry you will like Why Did I Get Married, a question I am sure many people ask themselves from time to time. It's kind of a Dramedy but it has some laughs in it and some heart felt moments as well. It is kind of like a black version of the Big Chill only no one died, at least that is was what came to mind after watching it, not only at the movies but I have the DVD so I've watched that about five times now. I love it!
Have funny and Happy Friday, be safe, two fingers!

Naomi Was Not Invited So Who Invited Amy Winehouse?

Okay so Naomi does have anger management issues and it is probably the best thing for her not to be in attendance, but who invited the mess that is Amy Winehouse, better yet who allowed her to perform looking like that?

After being treated for a serious lung condition, Amy Winehouse takes the stage at London's Hyde Park Friday to perform at the 46664 Concert in honor of Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday.

Will & Jada Looking Good Making The Rounds!

Continuing his whirlwind of social events, a dapper Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith chatted with Chelsea Clinton Thursday at the 10th Annual White Tie and Tiara Ball, a charity event for the Elton John Aids Foundation. The bash – held as Sir Elton's Old Windsor, England, home – raised more than $15 million.

A-listers Attend Nelson Mandela’s 90th Birthday Dinner

Nelson Mandela celebrated his 90th birthday in style, hosting a private dinner party attended by celebrity A-listers and world leaders in London's Hyde Park. Too many to name (Will Smith, Bill Clinton, the list goes on) you better believe the crème de la crème were in attendance. Nelson Mandela turns 90 on July 18th.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Keep On Givin'

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated $1 million to support the education of war-affected children through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

The Education Partnership for Children of Conflict will distribute the donation to four organizations working with children who have lost parents and homes in Iraq, and children in the United States who have lost parents in the conflict will also benefit.

“These educational support programs for children of conflict are the best way to help them heal,” said Jolie, who co-chairs the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict.

“We hope to encourage others to give to these great organizations,” added Pitt.

Carmelo Anthony Pleads Guilty

As he should, Carmelo Anthony Pleaded guilty to
charges stemming from his April DUI arrest.

According to Freep.com, Carmelo Anthony may have found reassurance that the Denver Nuggets still want him around in the most unlikely of places: the courtroom where he pleaded guilty Tuesday to a reduced charge of driving while ability-impaired.
With trade rumors swirling around the beleaguered Anthony in recent weeks, coach George Karl and Mark Warkentien, the team's vice president of basketball operations, were in the courtroom to offer their support.

Anthony was sentenced to a year's probation, 24 hours of community service and more than $1,000 in fees and court costs while prosecutors dropped a more serious DUI charge.
The sentencing capped off a bustling two days for the 24-year-old.
He was chosen for the U.S. Olympic team on Monday, only to learn he was suspended by his team for two games because of the DUI arrest.

Anthony, who signed a five-year, $80-million extension in 2006, has been the topic of trade rumors, including speculation that the Pistons were interested in acquiring him.
But he said Tuesday he expects to remain with the Nuggets for the foreseeable future.

"I hope so," he said with a grin. "I plan to be."
Being a Denver native, Ms. Nina is definitely a huge Nuggets fan and I hope the Melo man has learned his lesson. I have said it before, he is a cool dude but he is still young and still learning. Unfortunately these guys don't come into fame and fortune very well and they have to learn lessons the hard way. These pro teams really need to come up with an aggressive mentoring program for these kids coming in, so they won't have to learn the hard lessons the hard way. I hope Mr. Anthony is awake and listening because next time he might not be so lucky. Someone could have gotten hurt and he would have been looking at more than the possibility of being traded. Ms. Nina 'says put it on the court Melo and show everybody what you are really made of this season. Come on baby you need that ring right!'

BET Awards '08

I have to say that I was surprised this year because
I was glued to the set. I usually turn the channel a
few times during any awards show but this one kept
me guessing. There were some amazing performances
and then there were some that were just okay. But
overall it was a good show. Usher opened up and he
did a pretty good job, I am wondering why Ciara did
her little performance with Chris Brown. Was it for
shock value or what? Don't get me wrong CiCi is the
girl and all but the strip tease dancing is getting a little
old and she needs to step up her dance game a little bit.
She's doing the same dances over and over again from
the start of her career. No doubt the fellas loved that
performance by Ms. CiCi. I know she can step it up and
there has got to be more to being a performer than just
doing sexy dances. Thank goodness for Ms. Alicia Keys,
she brought out the old school girl groups and I loved it.
The Reverend Al Green was by far my favorite performer.
Rhianna did a good job but I would have liked to see a little
more movement in her performance, you can move around
even when you sing a slow song. But all in all everyone did
there thang and it was a pretty good show. There are
some people that had albums out this year that were
relevant and I would have loved to see them perform but
as usual BET only goes with the more commercial artist so
you don't get to see a variety of performers outside of that
box, but they do it their way and it's all good. Don't worry
if you missed it BET will re-run the heck out of it.

Jacob The Jeweler Is Going To Jail

He was arrested back in 2006 and now word is Jacob the Jeweler has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in federal prison for lying to investigators looking into a multi-state drug ring, TMZ.com reports.
"I feel ashamed that I broke the laws of this country, a country that has been so good for me," the jeweler — whose real name is Jacob Arabov — said after the sentencing. "I will carry this shame for the rest of my life."

Don't Miss The BET Awards Tonight

Make sure to catch The BET Awards '08 tonight.
Like every year there are sure to be some surprises.
Unfortunately Ms. Mo'Nique is not hosting, she is
always the highlight of the show for me. But D. L.
Hughley should do a great job as well.

New Edition Looking Good & Being Honored

New Edition was my favorite R&B group when I
was growing up. Actually they still are my favorite.

Alas, they were ASCAP Golden Note Award Honorees at
the 2008 ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Awards, which took
place last night in Los Angeles, CA. All the fellas looked
great.

RIP

With the passing of comedian George Carlin on Sunday
we take a moment of silence for all the celebs that have
recently passed:

Bo Diddly
Yves Saint Laurent

and many many others.

RIP to all.

Congratulations Tyra!

Congratulations to Ms. Tyra Banks for her Daytime

for living her dream and doin' things her way. Ms.
Nina loves ya baby, no matter what the haters
say.

Out & About Over The Weekend

Hi Babies, I'm back I have been so busy and I didn't
get to post yesterday so I am going to try to catch
you up on things that happened while I was out.
Over The Weekend Out & About

Chris Tucker and Dave Chappelle had lunch
together over the weekend, maybe discussing
plans for a movie together. That would be
one funny movie.
Jermaine & Janet were in Milan at the Versace
show for Milan Fashion Week. Jermaine has
mentioned that they are planning on having a
baby. Ms. Nina suspects Ms. Jackson may
already be with child. Congrats to them!
Vanessa and Angela Simmons were out and about
on Sunday for BET pre-award show events. Good
to see these moguls in the making out & about, they
are doin' it for all the young girls out there and keepin'

Mrs. Smith & Her Babies

Jada, Jadan and Willow were at the Kitt Kittredge: An American Girl premier last night,
Willow co-stars in the movie. How precious is this, Jada with her and Will's mini-me's.
These are the cutest kids and they got swag already ain't that somethin'.

Happy Friday Movie Pick

So, I never make suggestions on movie rentals, but I think that
is something I going to start doing on Fridays, my pick for this
weekend is 'The Other Boleyn Girl'. It is a period piece set in
the 16th century about the Tudor dynasty that ruled over
England for many years, Think Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn.
I know everyone isn't into the period movies, but this ish is
scandalous, it's like a freakin' soap opera you'll love it.
Happy Friday, have a great but safe weekend.

What If Women Ruled Hip Hop?!

Missy Elliot recently spoke with Essence.com on the
status of females in the male dominated world of
hip hop. Her wish for females in the industry is to
keep it pushin' and maybe a tour someday.

'My goal is to have an all female hip-hop tour because
that’s never been done. I would love to see that.'

Missy is one of the few who has lasted in the industry
and she has been a refreshing presence in hip hop.

Common, Fergie Eve.

Yes, the NBA where greatness happens, you gotta love it
and that's all there is to say.

The Lakers Take Game 5

It is a sad sad day for me. I was hoping the NBA Finals
would be over and the Celtics would be victorious, but
alas it is not so. P. Diddy and many other celebs were
in the house as the Lakers beat the Celtics in game 5
of the finals.

Lakers won the game 103 - 98, the Celtics leads the series
3-2. I believe game 6 will be on Tuesday in Boston.

Kevin Federline Father Of The Year???

Leave it to a night club.

Club Prive in Las Vegas named Kevin Federline father of
the year. Well, he is taking care of those babies since their
mama kind of checked out on them. Good luck to everyone
involved.

Beyonce Out & About

Beyonce was out & about with her husband Jay-Z on Friday.

R. Kelly Trail Comes To An End

According to the AP:

A total of 34 prosecution and defense witnesses have testified in R. Kelly’s child pornography trial. As the case comes to a close, someone won’t be taking the stand: The man on trial himself.
Closing arguments were set to begin Thursday without jurors having heard from the R&B singer, who on Tuesday told the judge he doesn’t plan to testify.

Kelly, 41, has pleaded not guilty to charges that he videotaped himself having sex with an underage girl. Both Kelly and the alleged victim, now 23, have denied being on the tape. The alleged victim also never testified.

Can't We All Just Go To Rehab?

Rodney King, whose beating at the hands of Los Angeles police officers sparked the city’s riots in 1992, will battle addiction on the VH1 reality show “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” officials from the cable TV channel said on Wednesday.
He should have gone to rehab before he spent all that money he got in his lawsuit.

Telia Tequila, Is She Serious?

MTV reality queen Tila Tequila says she played a part in California recently dropping its ban on gay marriage. "It is because of me — I definitely think [my show] has helped the movement," she told Usmagazine.com at the Hollywood premiere of The Love Guru on Wednesday. "Before it came out, everyone was still a little apprehensive about [same sex relationships]," she said. "Then they realized, 'Wow, everyone is really into this stuff, and it is fine.' The next thing you know, [gay marriage] is legal."
Hey didn't she use to be a MySpace _______. I'll let you all fill in the blank.

WTF?!?

I'm not even going to tell you who this quote is from
because I like the person but the last sentence had me
ROTFL hard!

"A LOT of people like to fool you and say that you're not
smart if you never went to college, but common sense
rules over everything. That's what I learned from selling crack"

I was in agreement up until the part about selling crack, WTF.

Usher, Usher, Usher, Thoust Doth Protest Too Much

Usher has been doing many interviews, supposedly to
promote his album, 'Here I Stand'. Instead he is taking
the opportunity to let everyone know his situation with
his wife, his son and his mother. Ms. Nina is all good with
that. But why does he have to keep talking about the
same ish in every interview and television appearance. Is
Mr. Raymond trying to convince us or himself that he is
happy with his current situation.

In an interview with the Vibe magazine, Usher is quoted
as saying, “I’m good at making love, but I’m not good at
being in love. It’s a conscious decision every day to love
the person you’re with.”

Okay, Ms. Nina has a little advice for Usher, sweetheart
you are either in love with someone or your not, it's not
something you even have to think about.

Sorry Usher I love ya man but I have to call it how I call it.
I think you should have thought about it a little more
before you got married. Now just stop talking about it and
ride it out 'til death do you part.

Solange Is Still On The Go

Solange stop by TRL yesterday with her broken
foot in a cast. She sure is a trooper, gotta love it.
Get that money girl.

Congratulations to Timbaland!

Timbaland and his longtime girlfriend and baby mama
Monique Idlett were married in Virginia on Tuesday by
a family pastor. Congrats!

The Lakers Beat The Celtics???

There were plenty of celebs in the house for the game.
Eddie Murphy, Spike Lee, Fergie, David Beckham and
his son Brooklyn, Hugh Hefner, Kendra Wilkinson,
Kanye West and many more.

I am still upset over the loss, although I knew it would
happen. I knew the Celtics needed the win on Sunday
because there was no way the Lakers would lose game 3
at home. Come on Celtics get it together, you can do it.

Nina Monroe Says, 'Keep Your Head Up'

I feel so sorry for Brooke Hogan, she hasn't had much luck
with her singing career and now her family life is in shambles.
On top of her parents getting divorced, her brother is in jail
and now her mother, 48 year old Linda Hogan, is dating a
19 year old boy that Brooke and Nick went to school with.
It is so sad, why in the world would a 48 year old go out
with a 19 year old. This woman is crazy. Brooke has stated
that the age difference makes her uncomfortable, but what
is she going to do it's her mom. I don't care who you are,
if you have children you need to think about the things you
do and how it will affect your children. A word of advice,
now is not the time to be selfish Linda, those kids are still
young and going through hard times. Get your ish together
and find someone close to your own age not you daughters age.
Brooke sweetheart keep your head up, there is always sun
after the rain.

Price Cut For The New Apple iPhone

iPhone 3G Twice as fast. Half the price. Coming July 11.
Phone, iPod, and Internet in one fast 3G device. Starting at $199.

Do you think all the people who spent upwards of $600.00 on the original iPhone are pissed?

Bow Wow’s “Super Stuntin’ 21”

Okay, so I know there are many people who could careless
about Bow Wow, but Ms. Nina is a fan so I allotted myself
some TV time last night to watch his Super Stuntin 21,
his version of 'My Super Sweet 16' on MTV. I think it is
great that he is 21 and his mama still controls that money.
Some people may say negative things about it, but being
a mom myself and seeing how easy it is to lose everything
you have with wrong decisions, I applaud Ms. Teresa
for making sure Bow don't go crazy with that money cuz
y'all know he would. If you missed it I'm sure MTV will
air it over and over like they do everything else. Otherwise
it was just Bow Wow being Bow Wow. I love his little cock
azz, haters fall back Ms. Nina has spoken!

Is He Or Isn't He?

The self proclaimed best rapper alive, Lil Wayne, drops
his The Carter III album today. Will it live up to his
hype? Ms. Nina doesn't see what all the buzz is about.
Don't get me wrong, is he a decent rapper, yes. Can he
hold his own, yes, but to claim that title you really have
to be the best and I'm not sure that he is. But I don't
knock his hustle, do what you do baby. Besides to be
a rapper you have to believe in yourself that much, and
a little bit of cockiness never hurts in my opinion.

Nina Monroe Just Might Have A New Favorite Author!
