Is The Attack On Jussie Smollett Just A Small Part Of What Is Going Wrong In America

It's been awhile but I thought this was important enough to post about.  Jussie Smollett was brutally attached in the early morning hours on January 29, 2019 in what is being called a hate crime.  You can google the story to get updated details and more information on Mr. Smollett.  It's sad to say that this type of thing happens all the time to lesser known people and it's never shared this widely.  We are in 2019 and people are still so consumed by hate that they take time out of their lives to not only insult people for being different but to also assault them.  We here at Nina Monroe can't quite decide if racism and discrimination is getting worse or is it just more visible because of social media.  

Whatever the case may be, it is disheartening that in this land at this time people are not free to be who they are.  The bullying, the bashing, the killings, all for being who you were born to be, it has to stop.  In this climate during this administration, it certainly feels like certain people think it is okay to insult and assault others because they are different.  Are the American people just falling in line with the beliefs and actions of leadership, or is it just the same old same old with more visibility??  Whatever the case, we hope the perpetrators of the attack on Mr. Smollett are brought to justice.  This insane violence in America that has been so rampant has to come to an end.  How do we fix it, protesting is not enough.  Serious changes in law need to be made, and that goes for any crime to any person for no other reason than that person was being who they were born to be.  We pray for a speedy recovery for Jussie Smollett.
