BOW WOW Is The Hot Sauce!!!

I don't usually post on the weekends unless I just feel the urge and I know all the other blogs are doing the Chris and Rihanna thang but I have to post this because I'm a huge Bow Wow fan for many reasons. I'm loving You Can Have It All right now, especially because of the TLC throwback, however, I downloaded the Half Man, Half Dog Vol. 2 earlier today, my girls came over we had drinks and danced hard to that shit for the past three hours. I mean over and over we played it. We had a Mile High shake off in my living room, asses bouncing every where. I know I'm not the rap aficionado but I love to dance and anything that can make me dance that hard and sweat that much is a good thang. I still don't get why people hate on Bow Wow so much and why people don't give him his props. He has lasted longer than any child star I know of, I mean he has been in the game continuously non-stop. If anyone can name one child star who has done that I will gladly turn in my TEAM BOW WOW T-shirt right now!

Another Singer Strips Down

Former Danity Kane member Dawn Richard is pulling a Ciara. She went naked for a magazine spread. I just don't condone this, I love Dawn and she is very talented and I think that if you have talent you don't have to result to taking your clothes off. If these young ladies feel comfortable doing this than more power to them but this is not the message you want to be sending to little girls that look up to you, I'm just saying.

Tameka Raymond Released From Hospital

Tameka Raymond was released from the hospital in Brazil and she is back in the U.S. after an eleven day recovery from complications she suffered during plastic surgery. She looks pretty good in the picture so I am not sure why she felt plastic surgery was necessary but anywho I am glad she is okay.

Did TMZ Cross The Line????

I think it is absolutely disrespectful to Rihanna for TMZ to place those photos online and now every site and their mama are posting the pictures. Hasn't the poor girl been through enough, we all know some of what happened and it is never okay for a man to hit a woman so why post the pictures, it is humiliating enough to even be going through the situation. Shame, shame, shame and that's all I'm going to say about that!!!!

Chris Brown Speaks

Chris Brown released a statement to People.com and as expected he is limited as to what he can comment about. It is a very hard situation to grow up around abuse and if you have never been in the situation you don't know how it will affect you and there has obviously been abuse in both families as past interviews of Rihanna and Chris have shown. We here at Nina Monroe Says ask that everyone just pray for both Rihanna and Chris during this very difficult time.

Do You Know Your Black History??

Medgar Evers (1925-1963), was the field secretary for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). He was also a civil/human rights activist, his death prompted President John Kennedy to ask Congress for a comprehensive civil-rights bill, which President Lyndon Johnson signed into law the following year. Mr. Evers was one of the first major civil rights leaders to be assassinated. He was only 37 years old when he was shot and killed in the driveway of his home.

Do You Know Your Black History??

Thurgood Marshall (July 2, 1908 – January 24, 1993) was the first African American to serve on the Supreme Court of the United States. Before becoming a judge, he was a lawyer who was best remembered for his high success rate in arguing before the Supreme Court and for the victory in Brown v. Board of Education. He was nominated to the court by President Lyndon Johnson in 1967.

Best Wishes

We just want to take the time to send our best wishes to Rihanna and Chris, we are not going to speculate on what happened but we hope it works out for both parties involved. A little side note, there is never ever a reason for a man to put his hands on a woman. With that said we hope that they both get through this ordeal.

We also want to send best wishes to Tameka Foster-Raymond, she suffered complications during plastic surgery in Brazil. We hope she recovers and we send our love and prayers to the Raymond family.

Do You Know Your Black History??

Via The Black Inventor Online Museum:

Benjamin Bradley was born around 1830 as a slave in Maryland. He was able to read and write, although at the time it was illegal for a slave to do so (he likely learned from the Master's children). He was put to work in a printing office and at the age of 16 began working with scrap he found, modeling it into a small ship. Eventually, with an intuitiveness that seemed far beyond him, he improved on his creation until he had built a working steam engine, made from a piece of a gun-barrel, pewter, pieces of round steel and some nearby junk. Those around him were so astounded by his high level of intelligence that he was placed in a new job, this time at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

In his new position he served as a classroom assistant in the science department. He helped to set up and conduct experiments, working with chemical gases. He was very good at his work, impressing the professors with his understanding of the subject matter and also with his preparedness in readying the experiments. In addition to the praise he received, he also received a salary, most of which went to his Master, but some of which (about $5.00 per month) he was able to keep.

Despite enjoying his job with the Naval Academy, Bradley had not forgotten his steam engine creation. He used the money he had been able to save from his job as well as the proceeds of the sale of his original engine (to a Naval Academy student) to build a larger model. Eventually he was able to finish an engine large enough to drive the first steam-powered warship at 16 knots. At the time, because he was a slave, he was unable to secure a patent for his engine. His master did, however, allow him to sell the engine and he used that money to purchase his freedom.

Bad Press For Michael Phelps

8 time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps received some bad press when a picture of him hitting a bong surfaced on Sunday. He is definitely going to lose some endorsements behind this but Mazda, Omega and Speedo are sticking by Phelps for now.

You see how those haters do you when you are on top, Michael should know better than to do that ish in public, whether he likes it or not he is famous now. Not that I condone his behavior but Michael keep your ish behind close doors, by yourself in the privacy of your own home. You are a role model and for goodness sake don't jeopardize that money baby!

Congratulations Erika Badu!

Erika Badu gave birth to a baby girl on Sunday, congrats to her. Loves loves loves Erika Badu!
