Recovering From The DNC

I am not my usual self today so I will not post as much as I usually do. I am still recovering from the big party, aka, The Democratic National Convention, that took place from Monday until the wee hours of this morning. The celebs, the events, the speeches, I had a blast this week hanging with the celebs and partying it up. If you missed Barack Obama's speech, contrary to what the haters say it was a very moving, intelligent and inspiring speech. He put it all out there and he is not trying to one up anyone. He has told the American people what he wants to do, so now we can all just sit back and see what McCain is going to say when he gives his speech next week. Make your decisions based on what you think the candidate can do for you and this country. Make informed decisions people.

I digress, it is Friday, so happy Friday. Oh heck y'all know the drill, be safe, drink responsibly and all that! It's a long weekend so no DUI's!

Nina Monroe Says Piracy Is Illegal!

I always tell y'all babies not to bootleg movies, well the same goes for music. Apparently one 27 year old learned the hard way. According to The Wall Street Journal the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested a Los Angeles man on copyright-infringement charges for posting on his Web site nine songs from a yet-to-be-released album by the rock band Guns N' Roses. The songs appeared in June on a music Web site, antiquiet.com, which is registered to Kevin Cogill under the alias Kevin Skwerl. The FBI says Mr. Cogill, 27 years old, told investigators he uploaded the songs to the site.

Democratic National Convention

Sorry babies, I didn't post yesterday and this is all I will post today because I am volunteering at the DNC here in Denver. As a volunteer I am not taking any photos of all the celebrities I have been able to meet because I think it is a little inappropriate. This is a political arena not a concert. But I have seen so many celebs, too many to name and it is crazy, I'm having a blast and the speeches aren't to shabby either. Don't forget to catch Barack Obama's acceptance speech tonight, coincidental his speech falls on the 45th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther Kings, I Have A Dream, speech. This is truly a historic event that you can't miss, even if you have to settle on watching it from your television. I'll blog ya when I blog ya, peace out!

Michelle Obama Is A Rock Star!

We here in Denver are enjoying the Democratic National Convention, even though downtown traffic has been a nightmare. Last night we had the opportunity to hear from Michelle Obama and here is a little bit of her wonderful speech:

“you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond, that you do what you say you’re gonna do, that you treat people with dignity and respect even if you don’t know them and even if you don’t agree with them.”

Michelle is a very eloquent speaker, I loved her speech.

These girls sure are gorgeous. Angela and Vanessa Simmons were spotted at the Giant Magazine party for the New Phat Fashion Collection in Las Vegas last night. The ladies definitely have that glam swag down pat. You gotta love it!

Our Hearts Go Out To Dr. Dre

According to people.com the son of hip-hop producer Dr. Dre died over the weekend, the music star's rep confirmed to PEOPLE.

Andre Young Jr., 20, was discovered "unresponsive" by his mother at his home in Woodland Hills, Calif., on Saturday morning, according to the L.A. County Coroner's office.

"Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son," his rep Lori Earl says in a statement. "Please respect his family's grief and privacy at this time."

Young's mother told police that she attempted to rouse her son at 10:24 a.m. on Saturday, and when she couldn't, she called paramedics. They pronounced him dead at the scene.

Young "had been out with friends" the previous night and returned home around 5:30 a.m., according to L.A. County Coroner's assistant chief Ed Winter. An autopsy was performed Monday. No foul play is expected.

Da Brat Is In Jail

Da Brat, aka Shawntae Harris, has been sentenced to three years in jail for the Oct. 31 incident, which occurred at Jermaine Dupri's Studio 72 nightclub. Da Brat was accused of slashing an employee's face with a glass bottle, sending her to the hospital. Da Brat pleaded guilty to felony aggravated assault in the hopes of winning a light sentence or avoiding jail time altogether. But the judge wasn't in a forgiving mood, noting that the victim suffered permanent facial scars. The rapper and a half-dozen family members all broke down after hearing the sentence. "I love y'all," she said to her relatives as a deputy hauled her away, per the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. "We love you too," came the family reply.

I still can't figure out why people need to behave this way, especially when you have so much going for you. Not that Da Brat still has a career in rap, but I know she ain't broke and struggling. She might be after that civil suit hits that azz, yall know that girl is going to sue the ish out of Da Brat.

Don Che Che is one of my all time favorite actors, he is extremely talented and extremely under rated. Where's The Beef?

While some sites have been reporting the online challenge and acceptance of a Madden 09 showdown between Bow Wow and The Game as a beef, it is merely a friendly competition. Bow Wow laid down the $100k challenge and The Game accepted. This has all taken place via some funny YouTube exchanges. So while we here in Denver will be hosting the DNC next week, New York will be hosting the showdown between Bow Wow and The Game. It seems to be lately that all these rappers are trying to be the hardest thing since concrete and that ish is gettin' old. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have welcomed another son into their family. This is the second child for Gwen and Gavin, their other son Kingston just turned 2 in May. The babies name is Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale.

The Longshots Movie Premiere

Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones passed away I believe today, some reports say yesterday but she suffered a brain aneurysm. She was 58.

Julius Carry (Sho'nuff from the movie The Last Dragon) died Aug. 19 in Los Angeles of pancreatic cancer. He was 56.

May they rest in peace.

Ice Cube 20+ And Still Counting

Ice Cube has a new moving coming out on Friday, The Longshots, which also stars KeKe Palmer. He recently spoke with Ok magazine on why he has done so many family movies:

"Being in the industry for over twenty years I've realized that my true fanbase have kids--just like me," he says. "And I needed to make a connection to the next generation and hopefully keep some continuity in these households and sustain my career."Cube, 39, tells OK!, "At some point, every artist has to reach to the next generation and let them know what you're all about. I pretty much have enjoyed most of the movies Ice Cube has done so kudos to him, I look forward to seeing The Longshots.

BET had a live taping of 106 & Park yesterday for their 2000th show. A host of celebs stopped by to take part in the festivities. Janet Jackson Has A Lingerie Line

Jackson's Pleasure Principle line of lingerie will hit mass retailers in November. After making its debut in the USA, the label will arrive in Australia, Japan and Europe. Jackson teamed up with Australian designer Bruno Schiavi for the project. Named after Jackson's 1987 hit, the collection, all priced under $40, includes a variety of bra styles (demi cups to full coverage), with sizes from 32A to 44G.

Here is what Ms. Jackson had to say about the line:

"There's something for every woman, and that's very important to us," Jackson says. Sax Player For Dave Matthews Band Is Dead

LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of the Dave Matthews Band, died yesterday afternoon of complications from an accident in June. Moore, born in 1961, died unexpectedly at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, the band said in a statement on its Web site. Moore was in an accident involving an all terrain vehicle at his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia, and was living in his Los Angeles home to begin a physical rehabilitation program, according to the statement.

Jessica Simpson Is Money Makin' Machine

Jessica Simpson has pimped her name to a clothing line, a cosmetics line, shoe line, hair pieces and handbags. But she is still putting her name on ish, of all things she is now lending her name to beer. Jessica is the new face of Dallas-based Stampede Light Plus.

"As an entrepreneur, I am always looking for ways to diversify my portfolio with good ideas and good people," Simpson said in a statement, as reported by the Dallas Morning News. "Yes, I work out and take care of myself, but I also like a cold beer once in a while," Simpson said.

Some of the biggest female names in the music industry are coming together to record a song for Charity. The song Just Stand Up, produced by Babyface, will feature Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Leona Lewis, LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood. The song is being recorded for the Stand Up To Cancer Fundraising Campaign and the ladies will reportedly perform it live on the Stand Up To Cancer television special. The special will broadcast simultaneously on ABC, NBC and CBS on September 5th.

Apparently JLo needs some attention from the press. According to MSNBC's The Scoop, Jennifer can't understand why all the buzz surrounding Michael Phelps and not her, she is training for a triathlon. Is she serious?

Poor Jennifer Lopez. The new mom is training for a triathlon, but everyone is too busy watching the Olympics to notice. Lopez, who appeared on "Good Morning America" Aug. 18 to discuss her preparations for the Malibu Triathlon, was overheard saying after the segment that she “couldn’t understand why everyone is talking about that swimmer,” according to a GMA source. “She couldn’t come up with (eight-time gold-medal winner Michael) Phelps’ name, and then she yammered on about how she was the one training for a triathlon just six months after giving birth, and how that was the big story right now, not ‘the swimmer.’ ” Lopez is planning on donating money raised for her race to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. To help drum up attention, she started a blog to share tips on training. “Touch up makeup prior to your run” hasn’t made its way into any posts, despite Lopez being spotted arriving in Central Park with her makeup artist later in the day. “Apparently, Jenny from the Block requires a lot of powder,” says the source.

If she really made these statements she is really sad, how in the world can she even put herself in the same sentence as Michael Phelps and to insinuate that her participating in a triathlon can top what Mr. Phelps has accomplished during the Olympics and his career. This chick has been locked in the basement too long if she really said any of this.

Christina Applegate Is Cancer Free

Christina Applegate is currently cancer free. After being diagnosed with breast cancer a few weeks ago she had a double mastectomy and has not signs of cancer. We wish her well and send prayers for her to remain healthy.

How cute, see no matter how old you get or how famous you are you can still have crushes, right.

Long Live Tupac

I absolutely loved me some Tupac, R.I.P sexy chocolate, he is on my short list of groupie crushes, but I wouldn't go as far as 28 year old Ryan Domenico did. Reports are out that the Ryan hit another man in the head with a drinking glass after the man made negative comments about Tupac. Check out what allegedly happened:

Reports allege that the victim was sitting with his girlfriend at a local bar, when a Pac record began to play. After making a disapproving comment about the artist, the 24-year-old Wauwatosa man was approached by Domenico asking him what he had said. After repeating himself, the man was attacked and beaten.

Domenico then left the bar, followed by a group of bar patrons who detained him until police arrived. The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office on Monday charged Ryan Domenico, with substantial battery, a felony. If convicted, Domenico could face up to 3-1/2 years in prison and/or $10,000 in fines.

The Wauwatosa man's Lacerations required about 40 stitches.

Memorial Service Held For Bernie Mac

Thousands of family and friends attended Bernie Mac's memorial service on Saturday. I still can't believe he is gone it is so sad, thoughts and prayers to his family especially his wife of 30 years, Rhonda. May he Rest In Peace.
